The Irishman: End of Exile

Square

In film, performance, photographic work, and street intervention between 2001-2013 the artist engaged as The Irishman. The persona came out of Philip Donnellan’s fictionalised documentary of exile. The visual construction was that of the image of the young Stephen Dedalus/Joyce. The persona concluded with solo exhibitions at Summerhall in Edinburgh and at Siamsa Tíre in Co Kerry. The exhibition included the trilogy of film: Looking Westward, A Rose For Jack Doyle and Nostos plotting the persona departure, exile and death.

An edited version of all three can be viewed here.

A catalogue designed by Sha Griffin accompanied the exhibition.
